My Heart
let love win
I once wrote about vulnerability. It was so true, passionate, vulnerable. That message was long ago before you crashed into me. Yes, that too, God has since led my heart to find those feelings that take your breath straight out of your lungs. The feelings that stop you in your tracks and you cannot help but to close your eyes to hold off the dizzy feelings twirling in your head. Relatable to drinking a glass of amazing Pinot noir and getting that beautiful buzz in your brain that keeps you from thinking straight. Yeah, it’s like that.
On this day, Valentine’s day 2025, I sit here alone, however the farthest thing from lonely. The man I am in love with happens to be out of town. He sees me though and he showed up. This day, an incredible commercial holiday, he does not love it. I mean imagine, the poor human race that has built itself into the most horrible pink and red corner to deliver the biggest most romantic gesture the world over. No pressure right?!?!? I giggle just a little bit in writing these words due to the fact I am sitting here, drinking a glass of wine, listening to music, smiling knowing I am so loved.
Loved. He showed up by planning days in advance hiding gifts for me around the house that he knew he could help me find. On this day, he is in Florida and I am in Bartlesville yet he proved he wanted nothing more than to make me feel special and loved. The same day that we not only expect but we demand to be filled with love notes. I would like to think I do not demand anything from anyone I love. There lies my message today.
Find the person that you can be alone with. While they are not physically in your presence you never feel lonely. Alone. Loved. My words roll out as nothing but what I know and feel. Find a person who adores your peculiar little quirks, who rubs your leg even though they are exhausted, listens to what you say, gifts you those little delicacies you only dreamed about, looks at you as if they were in Heaven. The person who helps you become not a different person, but the best version of you. Be true to yourself and don’t stray from that. The person will see the true you and they will love it, all of it, no matter what.
Hold onto yourself and your true love. You will know. It will knock you down and swirl you around in all of the best ways possible. Fairy tales. They can come true it is simply a matter of how hard you want to struggle through all the forest in order to find it. I am beyond happy that I have found my person. On this day, the day of love, let love win. Be honest with yourself and know life is too short to always pretend. Be vulnerable. Be proud of who you are and love will never fail.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
